Musings

A pensieve of philosophical proportions.
What Would Jesus Do?When it comes to consumerism, Jesus would, surely, say no and would not take part in the commercialisation of religion. This being said, I’m certain he’d be OK with you guys doing it, after all, how will his priests and ministers live their lives tax free if you don’t buy a fish sticker for the back of your car, or a crucifix for your necklace?Yeah, sure, get a tattoo of Jesus’ most painful experience, which has no relevance as he can choose whether to feel pain or not, as he is also God.But what does the Bible say about commercialisiation and idolatry?
"3 Thou shalt not make unto thee a graven image, nor any manner of likeness, of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
4 thou shalt not bow down unto them, nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; ” -Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:3-4)

"Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen." - KJB, 1 John 5:21 (New Testament)

“19“Therefore it is my judgment that we do not trouble those who are turning to God from among the Gentiles, 20“but that we write to them that they abstain from things contaminated by idols and from fornication and from what is strangled and from blood. 21“For Moses from ancient generations has in every city those who preach him, since he is read in the synagogues every Sabbath.” - NMS, Acts 15:19-21 (Apostolic Decree)

Well, I’m not surprised by this. Are you?
